Resource Guides for Supporting Our Children and Ourselves
These guides were created by Occupational Therapist Julia Blanchard and the West Kootenay Child Care Resource & Referral (CCRR) team. They were reviewed by a local advisory committee of individuals with diverse personal and professional experiences.
They primarily draw from Western developmental psychology. We recognize that this is just one way of understanding child development, family dynamics, and well-being. Many ways of knowing and being exist. These guides offer helpful information and strategies, not universal truths. We encourage you to use them alongside your own cultural knowledge, experiences, and values.
We encourage you to think critically about this material and reflect on your own perspectives. You can share feedback about any of the guides using the link below. Your experiences and insights are valued and help us grow.

Health & Relationship Education
These guides were created in collaboration with Steph Wiggins of Becoming Education and Advocacy. They were designed to help support children understand their bodies, boundaries, relationships, and safety with confidence.
“Most of us adults were never given the opportunity to learn that our feelings, opinions, and boundaries matter or that we were even allowed to have these things. It’s our absolute duty and privilege to teach these concepts to ourselves and the children in our lives. It is a gift.” — Steph
