A childcare centre licensed for 40 spaces.
Kootenay Kids Early Care and Learning Centre offers care for infants and toddlers, 3-5 year olds and children in a multi-age program. The infant and toddler program and the multi-age program is separated from 3-5 program allowing for safer more age appropriate activities.
The facility is a modular one-level open design allowing easy adaptations of the space for different uses. There is plenty of natural light. Our toys and activities are developmentally appropriate to foster physical, emotional, intellectual, creative and social growth.
We lean toward a Reggio Emilia philosophy and an Emergent Curriculum. Within this educational philosophy educators observe what children know, what they are curious about, and what challenges them. Teachers reflect on these observations and create developmentally appropriate and responsive environments that foster meaningful learning experiences. We utilize British Columbia’s Early Learning Framework to guide and support our educators in providing rich early learning experiences for young children. As well, we incorporate Aboriginal programming into our curriculum with the support of community Elders who share stories, drumming and songs with our children.
Nutritious snacks are prepared and served twice daily.
Educators keep parents informed and aware of their children’s daily events. Other news is passed on in the monthly newsletter and through notices and information boards.
Once registered at the daycare parents can find useful information in the Parent Handbook which explains the policies and procedures of the centre. You will be given a Parent Agreement to sign, indicating that you understand and agree to abide by all the policies and procedures as stated in the Parent Handbook and registration materials.
Kootenay Kids Society offers families the convenience of paying daycare fees through e-transfer.
