Therapy services strive to emphasize children’s strengths by focusing on their participation in multiple environments; assist children to participate in their communities by identifying and removing environmental and personal barriers, increasing facilitators in their environments, and enhancing their competence at the personal level, and; focus on social inclusion and participation, which may assist in changing attitudes towards disability.
Physiotherapy focuses on children’s skeletal, motor and cardio-respiratory development to help improve their mobility and interaction at home, school and on the playground.
Therapy will often seem like play to children, yet the process provides important challenges aimed at improving a child’s capabilities and thus well-being. Structured activities and standardized assessments may also be administered depending on the child’s age and diagnosis.
