In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Kootenay Kids Society has made several changes to the way in which we deliver services. These changes are to help protect the health and well-being of our clients and staff.

The Early Care and Learning Centre is closed until further notice.

Family Place is closed indefinitely. Staff will begin virtual program delivery the week of March 30th using Facebook and some other creative ideas. For families needing to access our food bank, please stay tuned to this website and the Family Place Facebook page for details on how we will support you.

The Childcare Resource and Referral Program delivery has changed to a completely phone and email system. The Toy Lending Library is closed and any families with borrowed toys are asked to keep them at home until the program re-opens. Late fines will not be charged. If you are looking for support with Affordable Childcare Benefit, child care referrals and resources, or support for child care providers, please call CCRR staff at 250 352-0407 or email Heatherb@kootenaykids.ca.

Aboriginal Family Gatherings are postponed indefinitely. However program staff are providing phone and email support to families needing assistance. Please call Ann Marie at 250 551-5945 or email annmaries@kootenaykids.ca for assistance.

Strong Start programs operate out of elementary schools in Nelson and Crawford Bay. Due to the closure of schools in SD8, the Strong Start program will not operate the way it has been. We are in contact with our partners at SD8 regarding other programming options to support families. Please monitor this website for updates.

The Early Intervention Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy program is closed to the public. Staff are working from home and providing families with phone, video and email support. Please email JuliaB@kootenaykids.ca for further information.
